What is Cryotherapy?
This is the process of destroying diseased skin by the application of liquid nitrogen. In effect the skin is burnt by freezing rather than heat. As the skin heals, new healthy skin replaces the diseased skin. Many problems can be treated this way, for instance areas of sun damage, warts, skin tags, etc.
What to Expect
We usually freeze skin for 15 to 30 seconds. While freezing, the skin will sting. For a few hours after it may throb. For a day or two afterwards the treated area might be sore
A few hours after cryotherapy a blister may form – particularly if loose skin such as around the eye or on the neck has been treated. The skin darkens over the next few days and is shed about a week after the treatment.
